So sorry to learn of Dan's death. You don't know us but we are among the thousands whose lives he touched in his career. My daughter and I will never forget his kindness and his help in solving problems.

I knew Dan when I worked in supported employment, 1987-2004. He was the most kindhearted and trustworthy person, and I KNEW that he would come through with anything he promised with a handshake. The last time I saw Dan (he had retired and I had resigned) we were both getting our cars worked on and were waiting for completion. It was so nice to catch up. I think of him fondly and am so sorry for your loss.

Dan was a legend in his time and the man largely responsible for making Dane County's ID/DD service system the envy of 71 other counties in WI and many states throughout the nation. He never lost his great sense of humor, even during budget deliberations, and his deep understanding of how systems can and should work for vulnerable people allowed him to cobble together unique programs using multiple, and frequently questionable, funding sources! Truly a kind and decent human being who genuinely cared. A loss for all of us but particularly for Heidi and Molly, to whom I send my deepest condolences.
