So sad to hear of Bill’s passing. He was one of the first one’s to welcome me to UWM in 1973. We got thrown together in Institutional Research. I could write Fortran and he purloined a copy of Plantran enabling us to do enrollment projections. He once hit the EXACT number of incoming freshmen! He taught me about “scud” (meteorological, not ballistic missiles) and “foibles” (eccentricities in numbers, not people). He was a clarion numbers voice for MPS when nobody would listen. We fished, joked, sailed a bit, and found cheap lunch bars on the east side. Bill was a friend when I needed one, and I’m sorry I let it get away. Sail on!

I met Tom when he was Val’s fiancé. We were all living on Vashon Island, in Puget Sound, in Washington State. We hung out at the Hinsekamp’s home after they were married. After Chad was born, they eventually moved away, but we kept in touch over all these years. We will miss Tom, and send all our love to Val and family. Mark and Lynne Steen, Cordova, Alaska
