Dave was my junior varsity basketball coach. He was an excellent teacher, and was gentle and kind. I had the good fortune to reconnect with him several years ago through friends who lived in the same development. He was the same gentle, kind man. It was fun reminiscing about days long ago. He had such a positive impact on students like me, and the thousands of people he met during his "dash".

John and I are so very sorry to read of Dave’s passing. Betty and Dave were a big part of our social life for so many years and we had so darn much fun together. So many memories to reflect on and laugh about again. We’ll miss them! Our condolences to the families. Pat and John Hickey

Mike Millonig I have a number of ways I was connected To Dave. He was one of my favorite teachers, coaches, but most of all he was my brothers, father-in-law. They circled the wagons around Dave . He was in such good hands. We should all be so lucky, some day. Dave was such a kind man and was that same way as my teacher, in drafting class. I just remember sitting there doing a drawing project and all of the sudden, getting the feeling that someone was watching me! And yes, it was Dave, standing behind me, with a warm smile. He then move on to the next person. It was a smile that would give one, confidence! Dave was also one of my football coaches. He and Mike Miller were my inspiration! They helped us believe in ourselves, and we had some great seasons. Lost touch with coach Miller, but Dave was so good at being able to update me, when I saw him. I was hoping to see Dave again this march, as my brother Tony and I were going on a road trip to Florida, to get his sailboat repaired. I was going to head to Madison, to join my brother, and at the same time, get a chance to see Dave. I guess the Lord had a different plan. It reminds me of what a friend of mine said to me once. Make sure you are always ready, because you never know when the Lord will come calling! We don't always have control of our situations, but if you are thinking of visiting someone, try to make it sooner than later. Wish I could of seen him once more! He had such a great way of reminiscing about our old teams and reminding you of the things you did. Dave was a great husband, father, grandpa, teacher, coach and man! Will not forget you Dave, Mike Millonig
