Anna M. McDonough

VERONA - Anna M. McDonough, age 76, of Verona, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2020, at Badger Prairie Health Care Center, with her son and daughter-in-law by her side. She was born on Feb. 7, 1944, in Oaklawn, Ill., the daughter of Albert and Lucille Lieser. Anna married the love of her life, Edward B. Larson, in Oaklawn, Ill. in 1963. She loved camping with her husband and son, Eddie, for several years at Apple Canyon Lake. Loving the rural environment, they moved to Monroe, Wis. in 1976. In 1981, Edward passed away unexpectedly, and Anna moved back to the Chicago-land area. After remarrying several years later, her health began to decline, and she again moved back to Wisconsin to be closer to her son and his family. In 2005, Anna became a resident of the Badger Prairie Health Care Center. She loved her Badger Prairie family; the loving kindness and exceptional healthcare that she received there was outstanding. Anna was a devout Catholic, very social, and always had a smile on her face. She loved to participate in any activities that came up and loved spending time with her family. It was very important to Anna that she look “presentable” every day and was blessed to have the staff pamper her by styling her hair, painting her nails, and always making sure she was wearing perfume and her lipsticks of many colors! Anna is survived by her son, Edward (Mary) Larson; three grandchildren, Stephani (Luke) Phalin, Thomas Larson and Tyler Larson; and great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Nolan, and Jordy Phalin. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husbands, Edward B. Larson and John McDonough. Per Anna’s request, private family services will be held and a celebration of her life will take place at Apple Canyon Lake this summer. The family would like to thank the amazing staff at Badger Prairie for their love and support over the many years that Anna resided there. In addition to her doctors, Dr. Alexa Eastman and Dr. Lynn Verger, and her social worker Maggie Thomas, the family is extremely grateful for the care the staff of the Prairie Morraine wing provided Anna, including Holly, Jessica, Rachael, Tammy, Tenzin, Kaleb, Krista, Heidi, Michael, Laity, Tina, Kovi, T.W., Ngadon, Jacob, Laurie and Ify (apologies if someone was missed). In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for a bench to be placed in the Prairie Morraine flower garden at Badger Prairie in Anna's name.
