So many memories it’s tough to mention only a few: in my college years it was her favorite advice heard monthly: “Louie, you got to study!”, later it was huge Thanksgiving feasts in Mt Horeb (with brownies!) and most recently the summer afternoons spent on the patio in Spring Valley. I have many fond memories of Irene! First of all she was an incredibly hard worker and was always on the go! She was a very healthy eater and took her health quite serious! My last and favorite memory of Irene is when we stopped at Patti and Louie’s house this summer and Irene was holding my hand and when we went to leave she wouldn’t let go! I will forever remember that, her laugh and her love for her daughter and her family that day! Dance like no one’s watching Irene! Say hi to all our loved ones for us! ❤️😘

Grandma Irene was definitely a vibrant lady! She was an amazing grandma towards Sam, Gina and I. I remember her always in the kitchen around Thanksgiving just cooking away to make the best meals for us. Her sassiness and laughter continued to grow as she moved up near River Falls, WI to be closer to my mom, her daughter, Patti Filkins. There have been many visits in River Falls and Spring Valley from Matt, Sam, Gina, mom, dad, and I to play bingo or cards with her. I even noticed her sweet tooth start to show!! Grandpa would've been impressed. Throughout the various FaceTime calls and hair-braiding sessions, you never failed to shine your light in your own spunky way. I love you forever grandma; thanks for always showing me that hard work will pay off! I hope you're dancing your heart away and eating brownies with grandpa Wes! Love your granddaughter, Danielle
