Theresa Ann Severson

MADISON - Theresa Ann Severson, age 63, of Madison, passed away on Monday, September 15, 2025. She was born on January 31, 1962, in Madison, the only daughter of Orville and Betty (Gray) Severson.

Theresa lived in multiple towns with her parents until she moved to Waunakee, Wis., with her father. Her mother, Betty Jane, passed away on August 17, 1987, and her father passed away at Karmenta on April 28, 2017. After that, Theresa lived by herself at Dane County Care Center and then moved to Women in Transition in Madison. In October of 2019, she moved to Partners in Care in Fitchburg, where she lived until June 2021. She then moved to the Northside of Madison, where she lived until her death from multiple ailments.

In addition to her parents, Theresa was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Bennett C. Severson and Viola (Graves) Severson; maternal grandparents, William D. Gray and Zelda (Normington) Gray; and several aunts and uncles from both families and several cousins she never really got to know throughout her lifetime. She was the last living heir to both families.

Theresa’s hobbies were steam train rides, videos and politics. Caregiving was her vocation, and she took care of her parents, mostly her father. For 30 years she cared for her father and others, including her uncle, Albert Severson, mostly by phone.

Her love for God and her father kept her going for three long years after her father’s death.

Theresa is survived by her caregivers, Nicole, Shatara from Partners In Care in Fitchburg and Patricia Strange who was her beloved roommate; along with her friends, the Jackson Family. Her wishes were to be cremated.
