Obituary
A graveside service will be held at Bethel Cemetery in Dodge County, Wisconsin, at 2 p.m. MADISON - Theresa I. “Terry” Roberts died at age 89 on Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2022, at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg, Wis.
Born on March 20, 1932, in Springfield, Ill., to the late Guy Pierce and Mary Walsh Pierce, Terry was 3 when her father died. Two years later, her mother married William Land, who became stepfather to Terry and her six siblings. In 1950, Terry graduated from Lanphier High School in Springfield. On June 24, 1952, Terry married the love of her life, Richard “Howie” Roberts. After their wedding, Terry and Howie resided in Beaver Dam until moving to Madison in 1955. Howie died unexpectedly on Sept. 13, 1977.
Terry worked more than 20 years for the State Farm Insurance agency in Madison. She retired in 1998. A charter member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Terry was active in the parish and choir. Their singing took the choir to Carnegie Hall, Italy, and other venues. She enjoyed bowling and volunteering with Epsilon Sigma Alpha (ESA), an international service and leadership organization. After retirement, she volunteered at the senior center in Middleton, doing senior outreach and reading to children.
Survivors include her five children, Richard (Laura), Marykay (Gian) Morelli, Steven (Maria), Jeffrey, and Elizabeth (Tim) Longley; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Her four sisters and two brothers preceded her in death. She had many nieces and nephews. The family finds comfort in knowing that Mom has joined another heavenly chorus and will once again dance with Dad.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. THOMAS AQUINAS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 602 Everglade Drive, Madison, 11 a.m. on Friday, July 15, 2022, with a luncheon to follow. A graveside service will be held at Bethel Cemetery in Dodge County, Wisconsin, at 2 p.m. A visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Friday.
