Obituary

“Well done, good and faithful servant!” Our husband, father, papa, friend and role model Curtis Dale Staats passed away Saturday, February 15th, 2020. His time on this earth was shorter than all of us would have wished, but the impact he had on the lives of those he touched was beyond explanation. He continually thought of others before himself, embodying a Christian servant heart through action first and words when needed. The passion he showed daily for his marriage and his family set the example for all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His passion for service inspired him to lead multiple mission trips to Honduras and elsewhere while still focusing on helping his local community and church. The question “Curt, could you help with…” was almost always answered with an emphatic “Yes!” In the rare times he wasn’t available, it was usually because he was busy helping someone else. A love for woodworking, art and landscaping led him to build furniture, decks, and gardens for those he loved, all the while mentoring us in life and craft. We miss him dearly and know that he is walking with Jesus while we wait to once again be by his side. Our hope is that we can honor his legacy by living with eyes toward Christ, while never forgetting that Curt believed that the meaning of life is showing others the unconditional love God has for all of us. He is survived by his wife, Patricia; and his sons, Benjamin (Christy), Jonathan (Whitney Roberts), and Paul (Karrah). A Funeral Service will be held at BLACKHAWK CHURCH, 9620 Brader Way, Middleton, at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 19, 2020, with Matt Metzger presiding. A Private burial will be held. Gunderson Fitchburg Funeral & Cremation Care 2950 Chapel Valley Road (608) 442-5002

Pat and Family—our deepest sympathies. So thankful to have known Curt and witnessed his love for Christ and others. He was a gentle giant with the biggest heart. It was a great privilege to serve alongside Curt with the Honduran and Bolivia ministries. Our prayers are lifted for you all as you mourn the loss of your dear husband and father. Pat, Ben and all... I was blessed to know and work with Curt for the few years we worked at The Center for Christian Counseling, Inc. He was a dear calm peaceful man of integrity and we were all blessed to be around him. My son Matt Pilster-Pearson and I send our love and hugs. I am just flying in from Texas on Wednesday and do not think my husband David and I will be able to attend the service but want you to know you are in our hearts and prayers. love, Shirley Pilster Daniel

Curt was an amazing leader! I went on two trips to Honduras with him while in college. He had a heart of a servant! I didn't have family in the Madison area while going to college and Curt was such a blessing to me when my car broke down on campus. He came and picked me up and helped me get my car to a mechanic. He truly tried to live by Christ's example and I know I will see him again in heaven!

I was so saddened today to hear of Curt’s passing. Getting to know him as a student in my painting classes, his kindness, his creativity, and the care and love he had for his family were so evident. My most sincere condolences.
