Bill was high in the ranks of the Department of Corrections, when I joined on in 1983 as a fresh out of college 23 yo Agent...a position he so amazingly forged as the very first Probation & Parole Agent in the State of Wisconsin. He completed several of my first case file audits and I was SO proud of his thoughtful comments, I’ve kept them to this day! The ironic connection was made when I saw his last name signed on those audits was the same as my sister-in-law’s, Sue! (I may have dropped his name and the connection a few times during my tenure with DOC!) Bill’s dignified presence, encouragement, vibrance, and smile encouraged my next 17 years with DOC, long after he retired. Godspeed Bill! You definitely inspired me both personally and professionally. I hope we marginally lived up to your amazing legacy for which I am forever grateful. Deepest Condolences to your family, friends, and a long line of DOC colleagues! Deb Sumiec, MSW, CAPSW
