Obituary

MADISON-Joan Gibson, age 86, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 9, 2020, in the Meadows at Oakwood Village East. She was born on March 30, 1933, in Green Bay, the daughter of Clem and Agnes (Vanden Branden) Faikel. Joan graduated from Green Bay West High School. She continued her studies at St. Mary's Hospital in Milwaukee where she became a Registered Nurse. Joan worked as a Registered Nurse for several years, compassionately caring for a variety of patients. She was united in marriage to Royal “Roy” Gibson and they were blessed with 27 wonderful years. Joan and Roy loved traveling, collecting rocks and shells from various beaches, gardening, square dancing (50 years) and volunteering. She also enjoyed doing crafts and stitchery projects. Joan is survived by her husband, Royal; four children, Jeanne (John) Whitley, Michael (Fern) Reilly, Daniel (Delany) Reilly and Colleen (Scott) Maier; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Ann Faikel. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, John Faikel of Green Bay; and grandson, Ryan Schlicht. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. Is this the same Royal and Joan that were so wonderful to my Aunt Selma? They shopped for her groceries, helped her after a fall, took care of her lawn and so many things. I haven't seen them since my Aunt passed. Blessings to the family! (Betty Denman)
