Mom walked in Dan's room while us playing when we were little to be hit in the face by a pair of his underwear because we thought it was fun to put his clean underwear on top of the blades and turn on the fan seeing them fly around the room like a flower.

The day I found out you passed away, l learned a valuable lesson. Love never leaves, it just transforms. Thank you for that lesson. I pray for your wife and family, and I will never forget that smile. I pray for peace for everyone that you touched in your lifetime. You were so loved, and you also loved so so much. Dan. Thinking of this just takes my breath away and I am so so sad. Sometimes I think you were just too pure and beautiful for this earth. Sometimes I think angels walk among us and you were one. This is my favorite photo of you. Rob, Dan and Nate. What a trio. Thank you for the love, the lessons, and all the memories-until I see you again-Godspeed.

Tripps, I'm going to miss you more than I ever dreamed I would. Thinking back through our years at Whitewater, has made me realize far too late how uniquely special you were. Your laugh, the way you called me "Bubba", Nintendo battles into the next morning, ranch dressing fights with Rob... but most of all I'm going to miss that smile. That sincerely heart warming smile of yours, that could light up a room. Those of us that saw it will never forget it, and pictures can't do it justice, but here are just a few samples of what that smile looked like. I'm so thankful for our years together, and will forever cherish them.

This past Christmas Dan was playing with Sophie (adopted neice) in the living room while I was sitting on the coach hearing Dan tell Sophie I am going to give you airplane rides like I used to give Renee when she was little. He than instructed her to hold his hands with hers and than rest her feet on his legs just how he gave me airplane rides.

When Dan, Jason Disch, Kim, Jean and I decided to go to the Dell's one night, Dan thought it would be funny to moon a car on the bridge but not realizing the car he mooned was a cop car. When he did realize it was a cop he ran off leaving all of us in his car while he was trying to escape. After the cop talked to us we were on the hunt for Dan. When we did finally find him the first thing he said was how he ripped his pants climbing the fence when running away from the cop. We all busted out laughing.

Our deepest sympathy to the Haefner family and friends. Dan was a wonderful friend, caring person and compassionate to anyone he met. I have many memories of him, Renee and I riding bikes on Irish Lane, playing capture the flag in their yard and of course our time at UW-Whitewater! Dan would always bring a smile to your face, a laugh to brighten your day and he was a great listener. May God give you peace in the days ahead and may you find comfort in his love and care. Praying and thinking of you all.
