Obituary

MADISON/LAKE DELTON - Dagmar N. Slinde, age 91, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2020, at Crossroads in Sun Prairie. She was born on Aug. 22, 1929, in Madison, the daughter of O. Melvin and Anna (Wills) Nelson. She graduated from West High School in 1947. On July 23, 1955, she was united in marriage to Russell K. Slinde. Dagmar worked for Madison General Hospital in the accounting department and then worked as a supervisor for WPS, until she retired on March 20, 1992. Her retirement was spent traveling around the United States until 2002 when she and Russ moved to Lake Delton. Dagmar loved to work with people and was always smiling. She decided to go back to work part-time for Walmart in Lake Delton until June 8, 2016. Dagmar enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing and playing cards. Because she was so close to a casino, she and her husband liked to visit from time to time. They were not always lucky, but they always had lots of fun. Dagmar is survived by her son, Russell (Rosanne) Slinde; sister, Leonette Sprecher; brother, Thomas Nelson; sister-in-law, Fran Nelson; and brother-in-law, Lenny Albasi. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Russell; daughters, Rhonda and JoEllen; and two infant sons, George and an unnamed infant son; four sisters, Lorraine Moore, Frances "Franny" Brattlie-Schultz, Olga Koberstein and Nancy Talbert; and six brothers, Arnold Nelson, Julian Nelson, Norman Nelson, Leonard "Ike" Nelson, Milo "Butch" Nelson and Donald Nelson. An outdoor visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m., on Sunday, Sept. 27, 2020. Due to COVID-19 guidelines, social distancing and face masks are required. Memorials may be made to Agrace HospiceCare. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com. Joyce and Lynda We knew Dagmar because we all lived at Country View. She was a hoot and a great card player. She was earthy and classy all in one. We miss her, but will look forward to seeing her again one day.

I was lucky to have known Dagmar through our work at WPS. She always had a friendly smile and always a helpful and honored team member especially during the tough times when you had to count on the team. It is sad when you lose contact with so many you worked with for so many years, but retirement is an adventure to be enjoyed doing things you never had time to when working, as with family traveling and spending more time with them, and hopefully friends near you, and often times doing volunteer work who need our experience and knowledge and loyalty to all the important causes, especially and sadly today again. We lost a friend too soon, with so much more she could contribute. It appears Dagmar continued to share her smile and love of life and adventures that she so deserved after being such a loyal employee and friend to so many. It is sad we work friends don't often get a chance to continue those friendships, but life has so much to offer, and we can't do everything even in retirement. Our sympathy to all her family and friends in your loss, and ours having been lucky to know her and work with her .

She was one feisty lady. A friend and I used to play euchre with she and Russ before bingo started at the Eagles Club many years ago. Then recently, she started coming to play at the Community Center in DeForest. It was good to get back in contact with her. I'll miss her smiling face. God bless all of you, her family. Judy French
