Obituary
MADISON - Olav L. Navrestad, age 88, of Madison, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2020. He was born on April 8, 1931, in Viroqua, Wis., the son of Haakon and Jensine (Aberg) Navrestad. Olav graduated from Westby High School, then attended the Vernon County Normal School. He taught in a one-room schoolhouse between Viroqua and Westby. During the Korean War, Olav proudly served in the U.S. Air Force. When he returned from service, he met his future wife, Donna Vietmeyer in a library, where she was working. They were married on April 18, 1959 and enjoyed 57 years together.
Olav attended Madison Business College and began working for Sullivan Brothers Inc. in the accounting department. During his 42-year career, Olav used his talents to help grow the business and retired as the Vice President of the company. He enjoyed spending time with his family and simply being outside, working in his yard.
Olav is survived by his son, Paul (Janet Schwanke) Navrestad; and many loving nieces, nephews and family members. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Donna; and sister, Katherine Nelson.
Funeral services will be held at DOOR CREEK CHURCH, 6602 Dominion Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2020, with the Rev. Cal Steiner presiding. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday.

I remember your mom and dad quite fondly Paul. I’m sure you will be missing them. Your mom made me feel so welcome when I’d cross the street for a visit. Never forget the time your dad came to door to see if those two little boys were mine. They had stood on the seat in Ken's Dodge Champ and somehow disengaged the car and it had rolled across Vondron and had rolled over the curb and up on their yard. May both your Mom and Dad Rest In Peace. They were so proud of you Paul.

Navrestad Family. WE send you our sympathy upon reading of the loss of Olav. He lived at our house at 348 W. Wash Ave when he wen to Madison Business College. He was a great rent and never caused a single problem. OUr parentsa were Louie and Jean schuster. My sister Mary Kay and I lived downstairs and enjoyed visitng with the fellow students there. WE went to Edgewood College and became teachers. Mary Kay lives by Chicago and I live in Madison . Again our sympathy. Jeanne Schustert Hubl and Mary Kay Monahan

I’m so sorry to hear of Ole’s passing. I’m out of the state until Friday and will not be able to attend the funeral. Ole was a very special person and friend that I worked closely with for over 30 years. He was like an uncle to me as he was at Sullivan Brothers during most of my life growing up. He was a kind and ethical person that he reflected on to others. When I get back hopefully I can find a way to reach out to Paul as I personally want to express my condolences.
