Obituary

COTTAGE GROVE - Sharon Marie Rosol age 76, passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2026, after battling cancer with the support of family and friends.

Sharon was born on January 25, 1950, in Stoughton, the daughter of John Marvin Norton and Carol Ruth (Clark) Norton. She graduated in 1970 from Golden Valley College in Minneapolis with an associate degree in business and music.

In 1980, Sharon married David Rosol. Together they managed Elizabeth Manor Apartments in Middleton for six years until they bought their home in rural Mount Horeb. Together they raised two daughters, Melissa and Sara.

Music was an integral part of Sharon’s life. At the age of eight she started taking piano lessons, and was a church organist by the age of 17. Throughout her life she was an organist in many churches. The moment Sharon got in the car or got up in the morning, the first thing that was turned on was music.

Sharon had hobbies of flower arranging, photography, bowling and crafts. Garage sales were something that she never missed, driving to area communities and having several of her own with her mother and daughters. She loved dogs and would never miss an opportunity to greet one. When Sharon moved to Cottage Grove, she enjoyed planning events at her senior apartment and decorating for the seasons, along with meeting new friends and attending events together. However, Sharon’s number one interest was her grandchildren. She loved them with all her heart and was so thrilled whenever she could spend time with them. She displayed many pictures of the grandchildren throughout the house and would always share them with friends when new pictures were taken.

Sharon is survived by her daughters, Melissa and Sara; two sisters, Susan Everson and Shelia Olson; two granddaughters, Victoria and Naomi; two grandsons, Rylan and Anders; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, David; and two sisters, Ardie Vallem and Melinda Vallem.

A funeral service will be held at DOOR CREEK CHURCH, 6602 Dominion Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 26, 2026, with the Rev. Chad Reeser presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday. Burial will be at Sunset Memory Gardens in Madison.
