Obituary
MADISON - Norman E. Marozick, age 105, of Madison, passed away on Monday, Dec. 25, 2023, at New Glarus Home. Norm was born on Oct. 9, 1918, in Chicago, Ill., the son of Charles and Alma (Knaak) Marozick. He was baptized and confirmed.
Norm attended Purdue University earning his bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering. He was in ROTC at Purdue and entered the U.S. Army as a 2nd lieutenant and advanced to 1st lieutenant. Norm was a forward artillery observer. He was injured, sent to England to recover, he received 52 shots of penicillin to save his leg. Norm still has shrapnel in his knee after World War II. He earned a bronze star and a purple heart. He went on the Badger Honor Flight and was inducted into the VA Hall of Heroes.
Norm earned his master’s in chemical engineering from Purdue. He worked for Standard Oil in California, Oscar Mayer in Madison, and Rayovac until retirement. He was secretary of the school board at Madison Lutheran School. At Holy Cross Lutheran, he was Sunday School Superintendent and taught the older students. He was always a sports enthusiast, playing softball, volleyball and golf. He loved choir and music.
Norm is survived by his sons, Mark (Linda) Marozick and Walter Marozick; daughter, Mary Marozick; six grandchildren, Jonathan (Abigail) Marozick, Paul (Debi) Marozick, Christine (Ben Pierce) Marozick, David Marozick, Michael (Isabel) Marozick and Matthew Marozick; seven great-grandchildren, Clara, Nina, Charlie, Lily, Emma, Ruthie and June; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marjorie; a brother, Raymond Marozick; and a sister, Elaine Hughes.
A funeral service will be held at HOLY CROSS LUTHERAN CHURCH, 734 Holy Cross Way, Madison, at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 29, 2023, with the Rev. Piet Van Kampen presiding. Burial will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday.
