Steven Gehin

BLACK EARTH – Steven Edward Gehin, age 73, of Black Earth, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 5, 2020, at Meriter Hospital. He was born on Nov. 26, 1946, in Middleton, Wis., the son of Charles Gehin and Elsie (Johnson) Gehin. Steve worked as a master carpenter before retiring in 2011. Steve enjoyed working with his hands and woodworking, he was very talented and took pride in his work. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, wildlife and the outdoors. He loved telling stories, jokes, playing games and liked to cook and bake. His grandchildren knew him as "Papa Steve" and some knew him as "Cowboy Steve" because he wore a cowboy hat and boots just about everywhere he went. He will be missed. Steve is survived by two sons, Jamey Steven (April) Gehin and Joseph Edward (Charisse) Gehin; two daughters, Dawn Marie (Craton) Berrymann and Kim Allen; stepson, Tom Steele; two sisters, Sandee (Dick) Ihlenfeldt and Vikki Wojes; brother, Charles (Elaine) Gehin; grandchildren, Brittany, Catie, Joey, Braeden, Wyatt, Jackson, Jayce, Cody, Damian, Harley and Trevor; and very good friend, Tony Andres. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Edward Gehin; and mother, Elsie Elizabeth Gehin. A celebration of life will be held for Steve at KALSCHEUR PARK, 3734 County Road P, Cross Plains, from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2020.
