Diane became a friend through my classmate Michael McCarthy. She was always interested in what Michael's friends were doing. She was attentive to remembering how various people became friends with Michael. It is interesting to read about Diane's life of independent living. Her attention to detail in helping students at the University is a real tribute to her dedication to serve others. All who came to know her as a friend will definitely miss her. We are all blessed to have come to know her & benefit from her friendship. May God reward her for sharing her talents to benefit all who came to her for help. May God console Michael & his family during this time of sorrow. Roger Neumann

Aunt Diane was always a gracious and generous host. She made sure to prepare the most delicious meals, and lighten up the room with a joke or an old story, and all she ever asked for in return was the occasional neck rub from Uncle Mike. Her ever-growing wall of birthday and Christmas cards was a testament to the lifelong bond she had with friends and family alike. Although I'll miss her greatly, I'm comforted by the fact that she'll be reunited with her parents and all her beloved cats in heaven. Rest in peace, and I'm sure you'll be able to watch your beloved Badgers from above. Love, Brendan

Dear Diane! You opened your and Mike's home for two foreign girls from Norway. It was your father who had invited us. But from the first moment, you, made us feel like we were part of the family. Since then you have been a good friend. You took Mike with you to Norway and met my husband. And together, we had the opportunity to give something back, and forge stronger bonds of friendship with both of you. We only have fond memories of our time together. Over the years we have kept in touch via cards, emails and FB. You were a sunbeam and your smile will always be with us. To your beloved Mike that you were so proud of, to family and friends; we give our deepest compassion. E & V

I met Diane after she became ill but was immediately drawn in by her effervescent personality. Brave and feisty with a heart of gold, she was a constant bright light. The description of life with her as “ holding on to the tail of a comet” was a perfect metaphor. Though the sky may be dark now, the stars eventually will reappear and Diane’s legacy of love will light up the sky again. My deepest condolences to Mike and her family.
