Our deep and sincere sympathy to Wava, Tanya, and their family and friends. Emil was an amazing and wonderful man and did so much good in this world. He was intelligent, compassionate, personable, worldly, empathetic, and virtually any other very positive descriptor you might think of. On top of all of that, he had a great sense of humor. I enjoyed working with Emil at UW-Richland and always knew him to be the most considerate and patient of colleagues. He was passionate about many things, not the least of which would be the desire to see a more peaceful and friendly world. Emil's legacy will live on through all he has shared and taught others. We will miss Emil.

He did so many good, kind, generous and helpful things—for his communities, UW-Richland, students and colleagues, as well as for me personally. A fine man. A sad loss. My sympathy to Wava, Tanya, and all his family and friends.

Mr. Haney was the best! I worked for him during my time at UWR and we shared many laughs. He would forget and sometimes leave me directions in Spanish, which I couldn’t read. I also didn’t know anything about economics but he graciously would explain things to me. He was such a dedicated and very kind professor. He was a bright spot during my college days and I will always feel blessed to have known him. You all have my deepest sympathy. Diana (Olson) Janecek
