So very sorry to hear of Kathy's passing. May she rest in peace in Doug's arms. Such a beautiful and family-oriented person. Will always treasure our memories on Lake Sherwood.

If you know the lyric to the Carole King song "You've Got a Friend", that was Kathleen. If you were down and troubled, she would lend a helping hand. She would come running winter, spring, summer, or fall. She would tell you to think big while raising our margarita glasses. She would tell you what she was thinking politically and sometimes had some very controversial conversations. We sang often and had a lot of happy times. Went on vacation together to the Bahamas & Marco Island, and had some fun times at the Chanticleer Inn and on the Chain of Lakes boating, Ravinia, and on the boat on the Mississippi. But most of all, we enjoyed having cocktails at each other's homes or went boating on Lake Sherwood. Good times had by all. She would greet us always with a smile on her face and show the world all the love in her heart She was beautiful and always made the people around her feel that they were as beautiful as you feel. She touched many lives. Miss you my friend. Our sympathies to the whole family and friends. Judy and Steve Nowicki

We cannot tell you how sad we are to learn of Kathy's passing. It makes me cry to think about losing her at such a young age and with so much love still to share. My memories of our high school years and escapades as well as the times spent with Kathy and Doug at the lake while lifting a glass or two are wonderful ones that we will treasure always. Once you met Kathy, you had a friend for life. She was so in love with and proud of her immediate and extended family. I never talked with her without our spending time catching up about kids and grandkids. I know how much she will be missed but it is comforting to know that she has been reunited with Doug and her Mom & Dad. God Bless old friend. Jean & George Mathews
