Obituary

OREGON - Patricia Jean Wieczorek, age 77, of Oregon, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2021, at St. Mary's Hospital. She was born on Aug. 11, 1944, in Pardeeville, Wis., the daughter of Peter and Anna (Dummann) Katze. Patricia graduated from Cambria High School in 1962 and married Dennis Wieczorek on June 20, 1970, in Madison.

Patricia provided administrative assistance for the University of Wisconsin system for over 30 years and was a volunteer at Olbrich Gardens. She was a very giving and dedicated person who brought joy to all those around her. She never missed the birthdays of those she cherished most, and she loved the idea of re-using a good card. Patricia enjoyed gardening, especially flowers, and loved animals. She was always partial to warmer weather and taking trips to Hawaii to soak up the sun. Patricia was very involved with her family and friends, and they will miss her dearly.

Patricia is survived by her two brothers, Harry (Arlene) Katze and Lawrence Katze; and her nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Eugene Wieczorek; her parents; brother, George Katze; sister, Pauline Larson; and sister-in-law, Helen (Sue) Katze.

A celebration of life will be held at ST. JOHN’S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 625 E. Netherwood St., Oregon, at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 20, 2022, with a luncheon to follow.  A visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Patricia’s name may be made to the Dane County Humane Society, Olbrich Gardens or St. John’s Lutheran Church, where she was an active member. Special thanks to the amazing doctors, nurses, and staff of St. Mary’s for their wonderful and dedicated care. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

Pat was a delightful member of our WINGS quilting group (Warriors in God's Service). Her love of the color purple was evident in her quilts, and her stylish clothing. Thanks for the memories, dear friend, with peace, blessings & hugs! junebug

It's really hard to know that I will never talk to Pat again. She was a thoughtful, patient, wonderful sister-in-law to us, and we will miss her so very much. With love and sympathy. Marian Rogers

Pat and I grew up together, attended all 12 years of school together and remained good friends to this day. I will miss our special Culver gatherings each summer, her sweet cards and notes, and that special giggle of hers. I will always be reminded of her whenever I see anything lavender/purple.

I was so sad to see Pat's obit in yesterday's paper. I had just exchanged Christmas cards with her in Dec and we both noted that we needed to get together in the Spring for lunch. Pat and I had a history going back to racquetball days at Supreme Court. We lost touch for a bit but then reconnected with monthly lunches at The Stable in Quivey's Cove to talk gardening with a couple of other friends. We exchanged plants, seeds and tidbits on our gardens. I especially remember her giant dahlias when she lived on Hillcrest. Such a beautiful spot. She often spoke of her family and the holiday gatherings and special events. She was a kind person, a cat lady and a longtime friend. She will be missed. Suzie Coutre

Dear Family of Pat Wieczorek, My deep sympathy for your loss of Pat. I worked with her from 1973-1977 at WHA-TV. I remember her as a very professional, helpful and kind co-worker. Pat was far more experienced than I was at administrative assistance and she was always willing to offer help and guidance. I have a small snapshot of Pat, taken at a farewell party for me when I left Channel 21 in 1977. If you would like to have it, please email me at BethBSchaffer@gmail.com with an address. Sincerely, Beth (Blanchard) Schaffer
