Obituary
VICTORIA, MN/MADISON - Glenda L. Walker, age 75, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2019. She was born on Feb. 7, 1944, in Minneapolis, Minn., the daughter of Albert and Genevieve (Haase) Shade. Glenda graduated from Minnesota Bible College in 1968. She worked at Mayo Clinic as a nursing assistant for many years, retiring in 2010. She loved books, sweets, her family and God.
Glenda is survived by her daughters, Antoinette "Toni" (Darin) Westphal and Erica (Christopher) Bennett; grandchildren, Corinne Maule, Leilani Bennett, Hope Westphal and Chloe Westphal; brothers, Jan (Christina) Shade and Ralph Shade; sister, Caryl Shade; sisters-in-law, Beth Shade, JoAnn Shade and Maxine Shade; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Corey Walker; brothers, Brian Shade, Al Shade, Jr. and Harlind Shade; and nephew, Eric Shade.
A memorial service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 6, 2019. Burial will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the start of the service on Sunday.

To the Family of Glenda Walker,
Glenda was a great Christian lady who endured so much in her life, but stayed true to the Lord. We remember her as a student at Minnesota Bible College. She was always so friendly, and willing to help others. We all attended the New Hope Church of Christ while in school, and she helped out at the church so much.
One funny incident that happened that shows her great sense of humor and helpfulness at the New Hope Church can perhaps bring you some happy things to remember about Glenda. Some of the men in the church were laying sod. Glenda and I were helping too, but we were providing lunch for the men who were working so hard. We attempted to make coffee for the men, and because we were young and inexperienced in making coffee, we looked at the directions on the coffee can to make sure we got it right. All the church had for coffee pots was one to make boiled coffee. The instructions on the coffee said 2 tablespoons of coffee for cup of water. This meant that the coffee was more like ink because it was way too strong. Not giving up, Glenda said, "I've heard about making egg coffee. Perhaps that will make it better." We sent the preacher's son over to the parsonage to bring 2 eggs, so Andy did that and we cracked the eggs and put them in the coffee. 2 brown poached eggs promptly floated to the top of the coffee, so Glenda and I poured the coffee through a dish towel to get rid of the grounds and egg gunk, which worked so we could serve the coffee. Of course it was way too strong, but she was determined to do her part.
May the Lord wrap His arms around you all and give you comfort and peace in these difficult days. We pray that the memories of your wonderful mom will sustain you. God bless you all.

When I was living in New York my mom told me that every time she sees a bluebird she will think of me. She sent me a little glass bluebird that she probably found at a thrift store one of her favorite things to do! My mom was always there for me when I needed her or I was wandering in my journey. Like a momma bird she always had a nest for me in her heart that I could come home to! My prayer is that I can only pass on the same loving, wonderful, kind mom traits that she gave me to my own children!
