Barbara Wallace

MADISON - Barbara May Wallace, age 61, of Madison, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2019, in Canyon Lake, Texas. She was born on Nov. 23, 1957, in Detroit, Mich., the daughter of Russell and Tessibel (Marolf) Wallace. Barbara graduated from Harry Hill High School in Lansing, Mich. She married her High School sweetheart, Thomas McClernan, in 1977. Barbara loved her rock and roll music, traveling, and lived her life as a “Free Bird” making many friends and meeting new people along the way. Barbara loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren who she loved and adored. She was very passionate about the things she loved, including her crime/suspense novels and TV shows and described her “me time” as being in “cable heaven”. Barbara spent much of her life working in criminal justice and medical fields. She was always thinking of others and had such a giving heart, you always knew she had a special gift for you every time you saw her. Barbara had a special bond with her emotional support dog, Sparky, they were inseparable and he will also miss her dearly. Barbara is survived by her two daughters, Brandy McClernan and Lindsay (Todd Novak) McClernan-Novak; grandchildren, Kaylanni, Valencia, JoKaria, Isabella, Veronica, Elon, Jahkaveon; sisters, Irene Battle, Darlene Wallace and Joan Miller; nephew, Darryl Battle; her emotional support dog, Sparky; in addition to many other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; siblings, Emogene Burkette, Aloa Wallace, Kathleen Waite, Lucille Oster, Paul David Boyson, Paul Darrell Wallace, and Henry Wallace. A celebration of life will be held at GUNDERSON FITCHBURG FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 2950 Chapel Valley Rd., Fitchburg, from 2 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2019.
