MIDDLETON - Jack M. Farrell, age 94, passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at his home surrounded by his seven children. He was born on Oct. 25, 1929, in Pine Bluff, Wis., the son of Richard and Irene (Kalscheur) Farrell. He grew up on the family farm in Pine Bluff and graduated from Mount Horeb High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Korea from 1952 to 1953 where he contracted tuberculosis and upon returning home, spent a year at the VA hospital in Madison, where he met a beautiful student nurse who would eventually become his wife.

He was proud to serve his country and proud to be a veteran. Jack had the privilege of going on the Badger Honor Flight in May 2015, accompanied by his oldest son, Keith, who is also a veteran. Jack married Ruth E. Stucki on Nov. 12, 1955, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Madison. Jack was a hard worker supporting his family. He worked for the Middleton Post Office as a Rural Route Carrier for 32 years including many years alongside his son, Richard. He owned Farrell’s Liquor Store and then became co-owner of Shamrock Liquor Store. After retiring from the post office and selling the liquor store, he worked at Pleasant View Golf Course for 18 years.

Jack had a strong faith and was a devoted member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Middleton. He enjoyed hunting with his four sons and grandsons, as well as fishing while vacationing in northern Wisconsin. Jack enjoyed playing cards, especially double-deck euchre with family and friends, as well as solo on Fridays in Martinsville. He was an avid sports fan, watching any and all sports but mostly the Brewers, Badgers and beloved Green Bay Packers.

Jack is survived by his children, Keith (Angie) Farrell, Diane (Randy) Hagen, Richard (Gail) Farrell, Brian Farrell, Patricia (James) Binger, Kathleen (Cory) Painter and John (Tammy) Farrell; 20 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Robert (Rosie) Farrell and Dan Farrell; brother-in-law, Fritz (Char) Stucki; as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Dr. Amy Daley and Dr. John Phelan from SSM Health as well as Agrace HospiceCare staff for their wonderful care and support. A special thank you to his caretaker, Zuzanna Babos, for her kindness and compassion, as well as Eunice from Senior Helpers. Dad, we are going to miss your witty words, charm, and gift for making everyone laugh right up to the end. As he would say to his grandchildren, “See you in the funnies!”

Oh, my . . . The wonderful times that were had when Jack & Ruth got together with my parents, Pat & Leo. And, better yet, add some/most of the 13 kids that were their products, and watch out!!! Now, our party-prone parents are all together, with many of their accomplices, and watching over us with great care. Condolences to the Farrell Family, from mine, on the loss of one of Pine Bluff's (and Middleton's) finest! Jack was always fun to be be around "for da crissake"!!! R.I.P. Jack . . . Ya' did good!! I am so sorry to hear of Jack's passing. Jack was always warm and welcoming when I came to visit. We would talk about chickens, and I even brought him some fresh eggs that he was thrilled with. We watched his squirrels on the deck too. He loved watching sports/ TV but would always turn it off to talk with me while I was there. He told me the good times he had with friends playing cards each week as well. Then before I would leave he would give me a fist bump and say, "thanks for coming, come again". I really enjoyed getting to be a part of Jack's care team for the past two years. You and your family are in my thoughts. Take Care. - Kelly K, RNCM with Senior Helpers
