Anne Doran
April 28, 1946 - September 16, 2019
Obituary
MONONA-Anne Lynne (Dupuis) Doran of Monona, Wis. left this life on Monday, Sept. 16, 2019. She was born on April 28, 1946, in North Adams, Mass., the daughter of Vivian (Smeltzer) and P. Homer Dupuis.
Anne and her lifelong best friend, Michael Doran were married on Aug. 16, 1970, in Madison. Trained as an elementary school teacher at the State College of North Adams, Mass., she taught fifth grade at Emerson School in Madison, and later, after studying at the UW-Madison she received her credentials as a special education teacher, and worked at both Madison Memorial and West High Schools in Madison.
Anne loved children and devoted herself to being the best mom in the world once the first of her two sons were born, which she was for sons, Neal Murray Doran and D. Casey Doran and daughter, Meghan M. (Doran) Hague. Later in life, she devoted herself to encouraging reading in children by providing a collection of children’s books at her favorite cafe and serving on the board of the local library and library “friends.”
She was preceded in death by her parents, Vivian and Homer and is survived by her husband, Michael; her children; and three lovely granddaughters, Jane and Kyla Doran (Neal and daughter-in-law, Joanna) and Violet Hague (Meghan and son-in-law, Clint).
No formal services are planned. Friends may honor Anne by making a small donation to the children’s book collection at their local library or the Madison Reading Project.
My love, my friend, my beacon . . . somehow, we will find the strength to go on. We are much stronger by having had you in our lives. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

So sorry for your loss. I worked at Kohl's then Copp's for many years and Anne was one of our regular customers. I always enjoyed talking with her and loved her laugh!

We remember the good times with Anne & Mike at the local coffee shop, Creme . Discussions on children, teaching strategies and books were always inspiring and will always be cherished.

I’m so sorry for your loss. I knew Anne because of our shared love for the Monona Public Library. We worked for the Friends fall book sale, where we shared many good laughs. After I moved to Rochester, Anne and I were in touch several times a week through the game Words With Friends on Facebook. We sent out brief messages to each other. I’ll be lost without that connection. Anne was so very sweet to me and my family. She loved her family dearly and often shared her train trips to see her family in CA, and informed me of her excitement the day Violet was born. She was so proud and happy! With deep sympathy, Elaine

My deepest sympathies to Anne’s family. I knew her briefly, she came into Studio Z and one of the stylists mentioned I collected socks and hats for the homeless. A few days later she came into my suite with a couple dozen pairs of socks for me to take to Vinny’s Locker. I was so touched by her generosity. I can only imagine by my brief conversations with her that she was an amazing woman with such a kind heart. So sorry for your loss.

As a former Monona neighbor, I very much enjoyed stopping my daily walk if Anne was out. A conversation with her was always rewarding and optimistic.
