Beverly Jane Maier

Madison - Beverly Jane Maier, age 90, of Madison, passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at Agrace HospiceCare. She was born on April 22, 1936, in Madison, Wis., the daughter of Ira and Vera (Burgus) Andruss.

Beverly grew up in Madison and attended Central High School. On April 10, 1953, she married Alfred Maier in Waukegan, Ill. In addition to raising her family, she worked as a clerk for Viking Insurance for over 20 years prior to retirement.

Through the years, Beverly supported her husband’s love of the Chicago Cubs, and would root for the team. She herself was a crafty person, with sewing being her favorite. She also enjoyed playing the slots at Ho Chunk Casino. She especially loved hosting family gatherings, Christmas being her favorite holiday. The last surviving sibling of 12, she spent the past six years residing at Brookdale Living.

Beverly is survived by her daughters, Diana (Jim) Banks, Jane (Craig) Kruger, Sue (Ken) Long, Sandy (Tom) Stanton, Sally Luing and Liz (Brian) Henslin; sons, Al (Lori) Maier Jr. and Mike (Rebecca) Maier; cousins, Albert Burgus and Joe Burgus; 22 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alfred Frank Maier Sr.; son-in-law, Blair Fortney; and her siblings.

A memorial service will be held at Gunderson West Funeral and Cremation Care, 7435 University Ave., Middleton, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2026.  Burial will be held at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday.
