James W Grant Sr.

MADISON/MIDDLETON - James W. Grant Sr., age 77, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 8, 2019, at St. Mary's Hospital. He was born on Oct. 8, 1941, in Madison, the son of William and Oleva (Harris) Grant. Jim proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1958 until 1962, then continued to serve in the Army Reserves until 1966. He owned and operated Grant's Painting and Wallpaper for many years. He was united in marriage to Margaret "Mikki" Lengyel on July 2, 1966, in Madison. Together, Mikki and Jim moved to Mississippi for over 16 years until they returned to Madison in 2015. He was a member of the VFW Post in Mississippi. He was a karaoke singer and an Elvis impersonator, and had a great sense of humor. Jim was very family focused, and he will be greatly missed by his family. Jim is survived by his wife, Margaret “Mikki” Grant; his sons, James W. Grant Jr. (Brandie) and Cary (Tara) Grant; grandson, Joe (Sarah) Grant; three granddaughters, Erica (Fernando) Yanez, Kayla Grant and Angela Flom; grandchildren, Bryce, Carsyn, Reyce and Presley Ladwig, and Zayden, VeyaLyn and ShayLeah Grant; and great grandchildren, Shaylyn, Ashlyn, James, Kamdyn, Jamayne, Magdalena, Fernando, Yaretzi, Romeo, Manuel and Ignacio. He was preceded in death by his parents and two grandaughters, Tangy and Kiyanna Grant; and daughter in law, Julie Grant. A Celebration of Life will be held the VFW Post No. 7591, 301 Cottage Grove Rd., Madison from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thurs. Sept. 19, 2019. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
