Obituary

MIDDLETON – Matthew “Matt” Timm, age 90, of Middleton, passed away in his home on Monday, Sept. 9, 2019. In the last five years he has struggled with Parkinson’s and Lewy Body dementia. Matt was born on July 11, 1929, in Shawano, Wisconsin. He grew up on a farm and was a hard worker with an entrepreneurial spirit. He worked as a welder and machinist until the age of 26. In 1955, he moved to Madison and worked as a loan officer and later a branch manager for Production Credit, helping farmers in southern Wisconsin. In 1976, Matt became a home builder/general contractor and built several homes in the Madison area as Energy Concept Builders. In the 1980s, Matt challenged himself by studying electronics and learned Morse code to obtain his novice ham radio license. When there was a downturn in the building industry, he and his wife Marian created a telephone answering business and a security installation company, which he later sold to Permar Security. Matt strived to create perfect solutions for his customers. He enjoyed being with his family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Matt was always interested in helping with any family project. Matthew is survived by his wife, Marian of 43 years; sons, Rob (Judy) Timm of Florida and Sam (Jan) Timm of Wautoma; step-children, Sharon (Dave) Schmid of Middleton and Robert (Barb) Knoble of Arlington; brother, Gene (Olga) Timm of Pembrook Pines, Florida; granddaughter, Stephanie (Tim) Bascom; grandsons, Eric (Danielle) Timm, Shaun Schmid (Lindsay) and Cory Schmid (Kelly); and great-grandchildren, Justin, Isabella, Sophia, Xavier, Zander and Zayda. Matthew was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Alice Skalitzky; and brother, Roger Timm. The family would like to thank Agrace HospiceCare for their kind help. A private service will be held by the family. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com. Gunderson East Funeral & Cremation Care 5203 Monona Drive (608) 221-5420

Very sorry to hear. Thought s and prayers to Matt's family. Matt was always happy to talk and to help. He had a an incredibly interesting life and I'm sure thoroughly applied his many talents to any of his varied life vocations. Incredibly, security systems that Matt designed 25 years ago are still in use today. Matt took time 5 years ago to attend my father-in-laws funeral, Irvin Napstad and though it had been years since we'd seen each other we talked as though no time had passed. We both enjoyed reminiscing. Matt will be missed.

Matt was a very special person to the Buisker family. Not only because he was, in our opinion, a legend in the security business, but a delightful person to talk to on a wide variety of subjects. Over the last three decades we have had the privilege of knowing Matt. The mold has now been broken when they made this man. I remember Matt and Marion visiting us in Naples, Florida one winter. Ever the person to help us out, Matt brought his tools along and proceeded to trouble shoot our security system. That was Matt at his best. Always a gentleman and honest to the highest degree. We will miss Matt, but know that he will ascend to a better place for eternity. Our condolence and prayers to Matt's entire family. Ray Buisker and family.
