Obituary

MADISON - Shay Rahsaan Watson, age 17, of Madison, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 25, 2019. He was born on Nov. 2, 2001, in Madison, the son of Malik Watson and Colleen Ryan. Shay was a student at Verona Area High School. Shay enjoyed sports, including football, basketball and track, and he liked studying and learning history. He enjoyed working with kids at MSCR (Madison School and Community Recreation), and loved nature and animals. Shay looked forward to special times going fishing with his dad and going up North to the cabin, where they went swimming and boating. Shay is survived by his mother, Colleen Ryan; his father, Malik Watson; brothers, Imani Jones and Malik Watson Jr.; sister, Endia Blount; grandparents, Dennis Ryan and Michele Norris and Tim and Trish O'Neil; great-grandma, Edna Watson; and many other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Patricia Watson. A Celebration of Life will be held at GUNDERSON FITCHBURG FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 2950 Chapel Valley Road, Fitchburg, at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2019. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 30, 2019, and also from 1 p.m. until the time of the celebration on Saturday. Memorials may be made to the family. Colleen, I cannot express in words the sorrow I feel for your loss. I didn’t know Shay but reading the different things that people shared about him it is clear that he was a special soul and an inspiration to everyone around him. To Malik & Family, Our hearts are broken along with yours in the lost of your son. We can only imagine the pain of losing a child.
