Obituary
MOUNT HOREB - Carol Marie Grender, age 90, of Mount Horeb, passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at Ingleside Manor. She was born on November 1, 1935, in the Town of Perry, the daughter of Melvin and Amelia (Christianson) Boley.
Carol graduated from Mount Horeb High School. She married Bob Grender on August 7, 1954, at Perry Lutheran Church in Daleyville.
Carol loved to cook and bake. Her donuts were the best. They were called 'Carol Donuts.' She also used her cooking talents to make meals for Daleyville school. She worked at the Daleyville store as well. Carol liked to sew and made clothes for the family. She proudly used her talents to make Anita’s wedding dress and bridesmaid’s dresses. Quilting and cross-stitching were also hobbies she enjoyed.
Faith was important to Carol. She was a member of Perry Lutheran Church her whole life. She was baptized, confirmed and married there and volunteered whenever she could.
Carol was a dedicated Badgers fan and showed her support by ushering at their sporting events. She went on gambling trips and especially liked to play the penny slots. She enjoyed sitting on the deck, watching the traffic go by with a cocktail in hand and waving to everyone. Maintaining her gardens and flowers was one way she enjoyed connecting with the outdoors. She also enjoyed the outdoors through camping, with Yellowstone and Blue Mounds being some of her favorite locations to visit. She held a special place in her heart for her trip to Cancun. She liked keeping busy by regularly attending Friday Night Fish Fry. Carol was a proud Norwegian.
Spending time with her family was very important to Carol, especially around the holidays. Her grandchildren brought her so much joy.
Carol is survived by her three daughters, Deb Rochon, Anita (Kevin) Connors and Cindy (Dennis) Kahl; son, Jim (Cathy) Grender; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Doris Paulson and Judy (Stan) Barrelman; two brothers, Robert (Gwen) Boley and Gary (Pat) Boley; brother-in-law, Ken Stamn; sister-in-law, Charlain Boley; and many extended family members and friends.
