As the “baby” of the family, I might as well be the first to share a couple of memories! One of the last things I told mom was “You taught me to be a good mother.” She seemed surprised. Guess that’s because it came so naturally to her. Mom and Dad imparted their great love of books on all of us kids. Many an evening would find all six of us reading quietly in the living room. Mom was a volunteer librarian at St. Francis school while I was a student there. She didn’t like vegetables so she never made me eat them! It wasn’t till adulthood that I started loving veges. Mom lived to be 95 anyway, so maybe broccoli isn’t all it’s cracked up to be!
