Obituary

MADISON - Sharon A. Larson, age 73, of Madison, died on Sunday, March 1, 2026. She was born on August 26, 1952, in Wausau, the daughter of Dale and Betty (Drews) Wienandt.

Sharon married Steven Landkamer on September 17, 2006, in Willy Street Park in the midst of the Willy Street Fair. Sharon and Steven loved the Willy Street Fair, especially the parade and the music.

Sharon received her undergraduate degree from UW-Stevens Point and her MBA from UW-Oshkosh. She dedicated her career to supporting older adults and people with disabilities. For a time, she worked at Care Wisconsin, where she secured a grant to establish a dental clinic for members.

Sharon had a lifelong love of music. An accomplished guitarist, she even taught music during her undergraduate years, sharing her passion with others. She and Steve rarely missed a chance to hear live music, especially when it was artists such as Neil Young or the Grateful Dead taking the stage. Together, they embraced adventure and travel, memorably rafting down the Grand Canyon. During the years she lived in Arizona, Sharon delighted in caring for her three beloved horses.

A devoted reader and dedicated community member, Sharon found deep fulfillment in giving back. She volunteered at the Madison Senior Center and was an active, engaged member of Plymouth Congregational UCC on Atwood Avenue. Above all, those who knew Sharon remember her as a kind, compassionate, and deeply loving person whose warmth touched many lives.

Sharon is survived by her husband, Steven; stepdaughters, Sarabecca Mgalle and Jessica Hagan; sisters, Susan Kuenzel and Carol Rollin; brother, Robert Wienandt; nephews, Zachary Wienandt, Tim Kuenzel and Chris Kuenzel; and nieces, Elizabeth Riemer and Sara Anderson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dale and Betty.

Memorials may be made to the Goodman Community Center in Madison. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

Sharon was a wonderfully compassionate person. She, and her husband Steve, volunteered at the Madison Senior Center for years while I was working there. I always looked forward to Tuesdays when they would come into help and share their laughter and joy with all the participants. It was a privilege to have known her. Rest in peace Sharon. You will be dearly missed. Take care Steve.
