Obituary
STOUGHTON - Larry H. Bernstein, age 83, of Stoughton, passed away on Monday, April 10, 2023. He was born on March 4, 1940, in Albany, the son of Herbert and Ruby (Laughridge) Bernstein.
Larry attended White Star, a one-room grade school and graduated from Evansville High School in 1957. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force from 1959-1963. After service, Larry attended Blackhawk Tech in Janesville. He married Ann “Annie” Scheel on Aug. 29, 1964, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Stoughton.
Larry worked for Gisholt Machine and Greig Machine, followed by 35 years at Milwaukee Stove and Furnace Supply. He was a member of the American Legion, loved playing cards and dancing to old time polka music.
Larry and Ann were married for 59 years. Together, they had three wonderful daughters, Denise (Steve) Sime, Angie (Sean) Brusegar and April (Curt) Brekken; grandchildren, Jessica Sime, Cole and Brady Brusegar, BreeAnn Olson and Sam and Brooke Brekken; and one brother, Darryl (Mary) Bernstein and his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herb and Ruby; and his in-laws, Lawrence and Marjorie Scheel.
A funeral service will be held at GUNDERSON STOUGHTON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1358 Highway 51 N. at Jackson St., Stoughton, at 11:30 a.m., on Wednesday, April 19, 2023. Military honors will follow. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday.
