Obituary

MADISON-Joyce Lynn Bloodworth, age 64, of Madison, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, July 14, 2019. She graduated from Oregon High School in 1973 and attended Milton College. She worked for many years in Madison. Her passion was orangutans and the many cats who walked into her life and never left. Joyce enjoyed many years together with her mom and their pets, due to Joyce’s health issues. She cared about all birds and animals, from the wild foxes, deer, rabbits and raccoons at home, to a special love for monkeys and apes! She did what she could to aid the plight of the orangutans. She was passionate about childhood memories, 60's rock music, and all things vintage! Despite her personal struggles, Joyce always showed amazing compassion for others. Joyce is survived by her sisters, Lowell Burger, Carol Bloodworth of Steamboat Springs, Colo., Allison (Mig Miner) Bloodworth of Oakland, Calif., Ellen Bloodworth Carr and nephew, Dylan Carr, both of Kiefer, Okla.; and her special stepmother, Joan Bloodworth of Madison. She is also survived by her beloved cats, Spot and Cali. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. J.M.B. Bloodworth and Jean S. Bloodworth. We would like to thank Agrace HospiceCare and the wonderful nurses at The Villa at Middleton Village for their loving care. Friends will be invited to a memorial gathering in the near future. Memorials may be made to The Orangutan Project (TheOrangutanProject.org), Dane County Humane Society or an animal charity of your choice. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com. As our Lynnly's stepmother, I shared a unique friendship with her. She lived with her father and I for several months. Her Mom and I enjoyed seeing our daughters' similarities. Throughout her cancer battle we managed to find humor in tragedy. The good she left behind will always be part of our family. May she now rest in peace knowing she was loved.

I alwats felt a special connection to my big sister Lynn, espically at holuday dinners and brunches. We were both very quiet and I was comforted sitting close to her always. I felt understood, even though we both were quiet. Ellen Lucy Bloodworth Carr

Lynnie and I never met in person, but we have been FB friends for what seems like forever. We were so very much alike that she always called me "Twinnie". I love her dearly and will miss our talks. Be at peace now, my dear friend. You will always hold a place in my heart. Until we meet again, Hugs Jan.

Lynn was always smiling ...sometimes in an annoyed, yet fun way, as Carol and I pretty much made her crazy when we were kids. We had so much fun at the Bloodworth home on Woodsend where I first met Joyce Lynn -Lynn loved the apes and monkeys and we teased her with them ..lots of good memories! Dearest Lynn will be missed. You fought a good fight, you endured much, you loved much ....it is time for rest and peace. Good-bye my friend, I Love you Lynn and all our memories over the many years.

My deepest sympathy to Lynn's family. She put up a good fight and always enjoyed seeing her Facebook posts and her love for cats and monkeys. I'm glad a group of us girls got to have a long visit with her a few months ago as I hadn't seen her for years. May she rest in peace.
