Obituary
MCFARLAND-Derek Thomas Campbell, age 40, passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2019, in Gurnee, Ill. He was born on Aug. 9, 1978, in Madison, the son of Donald and Ellyn (Zeier) Campbell. Derek graduated from McFarland High School in 1997. He worked as a manager of Pizza Hut Restaurants as well as other local Madison restaurants for the past 25 years. Derek is survived by his parents; sister, Bonnie (Mike) Jenkins; niece, Sophie Jenkins; nephew, Liam Jenkins; grandfather, Gerald Zeier; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Donald and Jeanne Campbell; and maternal grandmother, Joan Zeier. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at CHRIST THE KING CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5306 Main St., McFarland at 11 a.m., on Thursday, May 16, 2019, with Father D. Stephen Smith presiding. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Thursday. Derek will be sorely missed by his family, his close friend, Jason, and his dog, Budda. I will miss Derek more than I can put into words. He was one of my best friends and I am so thankful to have had his friendship over the last several years.
