LuAnn was born on Oct. 23, 1955, to parents, Kenneth Huseth and Melba (Komplin) Huseth. She grew up on her family's farm in Valders Valley located south of Blue Mounds, Wis. The farm was established 100 years before her birth by Komplin relatives who immigrated here from Norway. LuAnn's family were members of the rural East Blue Mounds Lutheran Church for many years until it closed in the mid-1960s. Since then, they have been members of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mount Horeb. LuAnn attended the one-room Ruste School until all rural one-room schools in Wisconsin were closed in 1965. LuAnn's life changed a lot at the age of 10 when she moved with her family to the Village of Mount Horeb. Her life changed again at the age of 15 when her father passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack at only 51 years of age. LuAnn loved participating on the cheerleading, twirling, and pom pom teams at Mount Horeb Schools. She loved taking as many business and clerical classes as she could. She won the Madison Certified Secretary's Association state typing and shorthand scholarships. She was able to type more than 100 words-per-minute with no errors. LuAnn graduated from Mount Horeb High School in 1973. She then attended Madison Business College and worked for the Wisconsin Employment Relations Commission. LuAnn married Dan Holler in 1974. Together for 25 years, they had three daughters, Becky, Heather and Robin. Her most treasured accomplishment was raising her wonderful daughters. She was also always proud of her 100% Norwegian heritage. She loved going to lutefisk dinners and dancing to polka and old-time music. LuAnn worked for many years in Mount Horeb for two chiropractors, Dr. Mark Bohl and Dr. Peter Kish. LuAnn was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth, in 1971; her mother, Melba (Komplin) in 2010; and her brother, Lyle, in 2018. She was also preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Christine (Skogen) and Thomas Huseth; maternal grandparents, Lillie (Rolstad) and Milo Komplin; and paternal great-grandmother, Lina Rolstad. LuAnn is survived by her three daughters, Becky (Keith) Cleasby of Brodhead, Wis.; Heather (Jason) Setterlund of Middleton, Wis.; and Robin (Ken) Lueck of Prairie du Sac, Wis.; grandchildren, Anna and Bethie Cleasby, and Charlie and Milo Lueck; great-grandson, Wyatt Shoemaker; brother, Doug Huseth, of Lake Mills, Wis.; several nieces and nephews; and the love of her life, Dewey Christoph. LuAnn was very grateful for the support of Angie Pereira, Kristy Sharp, and Lori Banker-Horner with the ALS Association of Wisconsin, and to the Madison ALS Support Group where she formed many friendships and learned very valuable tips about how to live with ALS. She was thankful for the care and support of Dr. Nassima Fertikh and the SSM Health neurological department, and Dr. Gary Grunow with SSM Health. A sincere thanks is extended to Agrace HospiceCare, especially nurse, Mark Wedige, CNA, Jess Hynek, and the West Team for all their kind and compassionate care. Another thank you goes out to Lisa Mahoney for the wonderful care she provided. The family is very grateful for the love shown by so many of LuAnn's family, friends and wonderful South Sixth Street neighbors, which was of great comfort to her. Also of great comfort to her was the care she received from her cousin, Jackie O'Connell, who for several months frequently stayed overnight to help keep LuAnn comfortable in bed. And, finally, LuAnn wanted to express her biggest thanks to the special man in her life, Dewey Christoph. He was her 24-hour-a-day caregiver for the course of her ALS journey. A funeral service will be held at EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 315 E. Main St., Mount Horeb at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 24, 2021. A visitation will take place at GUNDERSON CAMACHO FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 500 N. LuAnn was so much a part of my growing up and all of my Mount Horeb memories. Grade school, junior high, confirmation class, high school. My first girl/boy party in her parents’ backyard on Springdale Street. So sweet, always kind, such a cutie! And, as I understand it, a warrior through her battle against the beast ALS. Rest In Peace, my friend. With love, Linda Johnson Garrett 2 Timothy 4:7 - I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race. I have remained faithful.
