Glen Lee was truly one of the good guys. He was religious, generous, kind, thoughtful and honest. But Glen was also tough when he needed to be.
At a ship reunion, when it was time to introduce himself, he proudly told the group he was an owner of he Green Bay Packers. A big burly New Yorker type guy, got in Glen's face and said "If you were an owner of the Packers, you wouldn't be coming to this ships reunion". Glen always held his ground and wouldn't back down. When Glen finally got around to explaining the truth, the guy finally backed down. The poor guy didn't know who owns the Packers.
If you were playing Euchre, you wanted Glenn to be your partner. He knew his cards. One time, when he was my partner and I was going alone for four points, he caught the other team reneging, which stopped my lone hand. The reneging may have been unintended, but Glen was a very sharp Euchre player and caught it.
We enjoyed sailing and racing a C-Scow on Lake Monona. He was very patient with my poor sailing skills. Over many years of racing, we only won one race. We thought we won another race, but when all the other boats keep gong around the finish line, we realized that we had one more leg to race. We still laugh at that one, but we did have a good time on the water.
We will all miss Glen, truly one of the good guys.

Glenn was wonderful member of the Limnology community at UW-Madison. He had a terrific sense of humor that kept us laughing. Glen was the ringleader for "National Left Handers Day" every year -- the lefties included many faculty, staff and students. We miss him. ~ Steve Carpenter

Sally and family,
I am so sorry for your loss and to hear of Glen’s passing.
I think I have known Glen for about 30 years and can say each time I saw him, it lifted my spirits! He seems to impact everyone in my office in the same way. It was always a joy to see him.
We were both excited to realize one day when Glen came in wearing a CVN-65 hat that he and my nephew both served on the USS Enterprise - of course Glen on the first crew, and my nephew on the last.
I hope memories of Glen will bring you comfort in this challenging time,
Dr. Russ Hermus
