Obituary

LODI-Peter T. Wanat, age 53, of Lodi, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 7, 2019 at Meriter Hospital. He was born on February 6, 1966, in Prairie du Sac, WI, the son of Carl and Sue Wanat. Peter graduated from Lodi High School in 1984 and earned an associate degree in Finance from Madison Area Technical College. He was employed with Oscar Mayer, Inc until his disability. Peter was a member of Lodi United Methodist Church and had a wide variety of interests. He enjoyed the outdoors and hunting and loved playing poker and was quite adept at "Texas Hold'em". Peter was proud to have earned his pilot's license and flying to area airports. In addition to his parents, survivors include his sister, Sarah (Robert) Clark and their children, Spenser, Mariah and Amelia. Memorial services will be held at Lodi United Methodist Church,130 Locust St., at 2 p.m. on Friday April 12, 2019, with Rev. Marjorie Rice Myers presiding with a gathering to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Columbia County Humane Society. The last gift Peter insisted on was donating his organs so others could benefit. So sorry to hear about Peters passing. Pete was a person who always put a positive spin on things. He was very dedicated to the things he was involved in, and made the best of life’s challenges. Will miss the opportunities to cross paths with him. Fly High Pete✌️

Such a brave , strong man... He had overcome obstacles most could never dream of. He was a kind hearted person and always greeted with a smile and by name. I love the picture . He is smiling as I am sure he is smiling as he is flying into heaven. Pete - you are a true inspiration to all of us. God speed my friend. May your legs rest easy and your heart live on in all.
