Obituary
STOUGHTON/PORT AUSTIN, Mich. - Franklin Timothy Doyle "Tim", age 79, of Stoughton, formerly of Port Austin, Mich., passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2019, at Agrace HospiceCare after a short illness. He was born on Sept. 5, 1939, in Seattle, Wash., the son of Frank and Helen (Gross) Doyle. Tim served as an MP in the U.S. Army in Alaska. He graduated from the LAPD Police Academy in 1964. Tim worked for the Downey, Calif. and Bloomfield Hills, Mich., police depts. and later worked as a sheriff's deputy for Oakland County, Mich., for many years. His work as a police officer was a calling and a source of pride to him. Tim felt lucky to have the only career he ever wanted and he loved every day he spent on the job, both undercover and in uniform. After his retirement, he and his wife moved north to the Thumb of Michigan where he worked as a prosecutor's investigator for Huron County for another 12 years. In 2015, they moved to Stoughton to be near family. Tim enjoyed biking and exercising and was a volunteer at the Stoughton United Methodist Church Food Pantry. He loved impromptu gatherings with friends and family, whether it be by a bonfire in Port Austin, Mich. or a sunset gathering on Casey Key beach in Florida. Tim had a host of friends from all walks of life, from California to Florida, as well as the Midwest. His speech was often riddled with favorite sayings, which friends and family will be repeating for years to come – “Doyleisms”. Tim’s quirky sense of humor was contagious, and people enjoyed being in his presence. They also knew he was the guy to call when things got tough and he would drop everything to be there. Tim is survived by his wife, Jo, daughter, Trini (Marty) Pevey; son, Danny (Pam) Doyle; daughter, Timiann (Stuart) Tillery; and daughter, Jennifer (Scott) Hull; nine grandchildren, Tucker and Ashtin Pevey, Mackenzie, Peyton, Davis and Sutton Tillery, and Nick, Jonathan and Erin Hull; two sisters; and a brother. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

Franklin Timothy Doyle (aka Whino) was such a gift and oh how Mom and I looked forward to seeing him on Wednesday mornings at the Food Pantry. His greeting of "Hi Sunshine" to my mom was so uplifting and special. I loved his undercover cop stories--he seemed to relish going back in time. It was such a part of who he was. We will miss him . Mother and I wish comfort and peace to Jo and her family in the weeks and months ahead. Pam Smith & Dolores Wurtz

I knew Tim in the 70’s and have great memories, to include police stories and family get togethers.
A couple stories in particular was his surveillance of a drug dealer that took he and his partner to New York City where I met up with them. Even though we were told by NYC police to not drive through Harlem, that’s where we first headed. Another great story was a surveillance that took he and his partner to the back hills of Kentucky for a prisoner pick-up. His description was colorful: They had long hair and beards, and had to travel to a small town in the hills where the prisoner was kept in a cell at the rear of the sheriff’s house. It was quite obvious Tim and partner did not fit in with the local culture. They were anxious to quickly leave the area and return to Michigan.
He was an outstanding police officer and great friend. My condolences to Danny, Trini, Timiann, Jo, and the rest of Tim’s family. Very sad to have lost a good guy.

one summer day we were sitting at the beach with a small group talking, laughing and having
a cocktail. All of a sudden Tim wasn't there. He had jumped into the water to save a little boy.
none of us had noticed. we will miss you Tim. Love, Lois

My family and I are so sorry to hear about the passing of “Wine-O”. We had the pleasure of getting to know him as a neighbor here in Stoughton, Wi. Tim was always looking out for us and willing to lend a hand to help, He will especially be missed by our 4 year old twins who looked for him daily while he was on his many bike rides. He would always wave to the kids as they stood at our front door screaming his name, “Wine-O”. It became part of our daily routine. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Jo and their family. My the Lotd give you all strength while you greave.
