Joseph Barsness

BLACK EARTH- Joseph "Joey" Barsness, age 48, of Black Earth, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 25, 2019. He was born on Nov. 15, 1970, in Madison, the son of Marlin and Brenda (Pine) Barsness. Joey graduated from Wisconsin Heights High School in 1989. He worked as an electrician for GE and then at Everything Electric with his dad. Joey's greatest joy was his family. He loved to spend time with his kids and grandkids. Joey was also an avid dog lover, especially his dog Benji. He is described as a man that would do anything for anyone and found joy in helping others. Joey's heart was so big and he gave it to anyone he met. He was also a man that liked to do things his own way and on his own time. This was very evident in his tinkering ways. Joey is survived by his mother, Brenda (Don Cole) Barsness; son, Ryan Barsness; daughter Caitlin Lee Kieckhefer; sister, Debra (Shawn Statz) Barsness; grandchildren Karsen and Karter Kieckhefer, Kash and Austyn Arneson; two nieces, Brooke and Taylor; and many extended family. He was preceded in death by his father; maternal grandparents, Gerry and Wanda Pine; and paternal grandparents, Ralph and Hazel Barsness. A Celebration of Life will be held at VERMONT LUTHERAN CHURCH, 9886 Vermont Church Road, Black Earth, at 11 a.m. on Friday March 29, 2019, with Rev. Barry Hoerz presiding. Burial will be held at Vermont Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON CAMACHO FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1710 Center Street, Black Earth, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 28, 2019, and also at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday.
