Obituary

POYNETTE- Eleanor Marcheta (Foreyt) Georgeson left this world with dignity, courage and grace, the same way she lived life every day. Born on September 26, 1924, near Lancaster, WI, she spent her 94 years enjoying life to the fullest, until her death on April 7, 2019. Up until her last few weeks, she lived independently in Poynette, Wisconsin. She spent her time devouring books and newspapers, creating embroidered, crocheted, and quilted masterpieces, and solving crossword puzzles. She was active and engaged with her family and interests until the end. Gladys and George Foreyt gave birth to Eleanor as the fourth of eight children during the difficult years of the Great Depression and World War II. Although her farm family lacked the luxuries of wealth, they never wanted for affection. Surrounded by her parents and many siblings, love was always in ample supply. Eleanor met her soul mate – as the story goes – as the result of a fated bicycle ride in front of his house. She married Byron LaFayette Georgeson on February 22, 1947. They eventually moved to their farm in Arlington, where she and Byron raised their three children; Joyce, Nancy and Gary. Eleanor and Byron farmed side by side as a team, raising crops, hogs, and beef cattle. Eleanor found additional employment to provide for her family with the State of Wisconsin, Del Monte Canning Factory and finally WPS Health Insurance, where she worked until her retirement at the remarkable age of 81. As an active member of her community, Eleanor belonged to Spring Prairie Lutheran Church and the Arlington Homemakers, led the Rocky Run Boosters 4-H club, and served as the treasurer of her condominium association. Many people looked to Eleanor for support in times of sickness, as her visits always brightened the days of those she visited. A woman with strong values, Eleanor taught her children by example. Hard work, kindness, using your talents and speaking the truth were the rules she lived by. Her fiery spirit and wit were with her until the end. Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband, Byron Georgeson; her granddaughter, Kayla Beth Georgeson; her parents, George and Gladys Foreyt; and her siblings, Dorothy Gratz, Vivian Foreyt, LaVon Hahn, Delores Kuntz, Gloria Abendroth and Roland Foreyt. She is survived by one brother, Ronald Foreyt. Eleanor is also survived by her three children, Joyce Tomczak (Robert), Nancy Roth (Paul), and Gary Georgeson (Linda Priske). Her grandchildren and great grandchildren are Craig Tomczak and his son Braiden, Ryan Tomczak and his daughter Josie, Colin Roth (Nikki Bogdanske) and Nathan Roth. Funeral Services will be held at SPRING PRAIRIE LUTHERAN CHURCH, N509 County Rd. C, DeForest, 11 a.m., Friday, April 12, 2019 with Vicar Rick Bursh presiding. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Memorials may be made in Eleanor’s name to Agrace HospiceCare or Our House in Lodi. Heartfelt thanks to all of the wonderful people who were there for Mom's final journey; the caretakers at Our House in Lodi and the staff of Agrace HospiceCare. Mom, Grandma and Great-grandma, we love you and miss you so much. Gunderson Lodi Funeral & Cremation Care 157 S. Main St. (608) 592-3201
