Obituary

Arnold Rodney Segal, son of Max and Celia Segal, was born March 12,1937 in St. Paul Minnesota, and passed away at the age of 82 on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 in Madison, WI. From very humble beginnings in the West Side Flats neighborhood of St. Paul and later the Jewish community of the north side of Minneapolis, Arnie graduated from the University of Minnesota with a BS in accounting. He became a CPA and the youngest partner in a successful accounting firm. Later he started his own firm, serving medical practices in the Twin Cities. Arnie and his wife Sandy raised their children in St. Louis Park, Minnesota and later Golden Valley, where they lived until moving to Madison, Wisconsin last April. He was a Shriner in the Minneapolis chapter, a saxophonist, and he often participated in Shriners’ parades, playing the horn as well as glockenspiel and bongos. Arnie loved Jazz and Klezmer and was an avid collector of kitsch. Oh, and he loved dogs. Arnie is survived by his wife of 58 years of marriage Sandra (Letofsky), a daughter, Julie Segal, Son, Ira Segal, son-in-law, Carlos Ramos, daughter-in-law, Barbara Segal, and grandchildren, Carly Cummiskey, Hans Lundt, Noa Ramos, and Antonia Ramos. He is also survived by his sister, Carole Feldman and brother-in-law, Stan Feldman; and his dog Max. Arnie told everyone around him everyday that he spent almost six decades with the woman he loved. He valued education above everything. Success to Arnie was having raised two children, who found work they loved and spouses who were adoring. He could not get enough of his grandchildren Noa and Antonia. It was his greatest joy to be able to help with their college education. Later in life, Ira and Barb gave him the gift of step-grandchildren, Carly and Hans. Arnie always said he had everything he ever wanted in life. His legacy is a fierce loyalty, gratefulness, and love for his family. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 11 a.m., on Monday, March 25, 2019, with Rabbi Laurie Zimmerman presiding. Following the services he will be laid to rest at the Beit Olamin Jewish section of Sunset Memorial Gardens 7302 Mineral Point Road, Madison, WI. Arnie, It was my honor to work with you for the past 35 years. Your honesty and integrety were evident in the way you treated everyone. More than a professional, you were a friend. We enjoyed good events and struggled together to overcome challenges. I know the last year has been hard. May you find peace! William Simonet

I've been close to Arnie since Sandy and Arnie began dating. There were even times we talked about going into practice together. Arnie will be missed. Norm
