Anna Lescanec
February 23, 1921 - March 17, 2019
Obituary
Anna Lescanec, age 98, left her earthly home on Sunday, March 17, 2019, at Country Comforts Assisted Living in Cambridge. She was born on Feb. 23, 1921, the daughter of Steven and Anastazia (Stilma) Rozella. Her family moved to Mosinee when she was very young. They purchased a farm at Rocky Ridge and began dairy farming. Anna had six brothers and one sister with whom to share the work. At the age of 18, she moved to Milwaukee in search of a job and a life off the farm. In Wauwatosa, Anna became a cook and housekeeper working at the Home of the Blind. During the war, she worked in a factory as a spot welder for the effort, before working at Schuster’s Department Store and as a cook at St. Luke’s Hospital. Anna married Louis Lescanec on June 15, 1946. She loved becoming a mother, sewing, gardening and growing the best tomatoes and peppers around. Anna greatly enjoyed returning to the farm up north to visit her parents and brothers who never left the area. Other siblings would visit as well, along with their children, making memories and a very full house. For many years, there were a few weeks of sunshine spent in Hollywood, Fla., during the winter. After the death of Louis, Anna enjoyed visiting Florida with her daughter, LuAnn. She spent time at a cottage on Lake Wandawega for many years, which served as her “back to nature” escape, shared with many friends. Anna really cherished these times. She was always a patient, humble and grateful person. One of Anna’s favorite sayings was, “If you don’t expect anything, you’ll never be disappointed.” She is survived by her daughters, Linda Ball of Cambridge and LuAnn (Regan) Murray, Lehigh Acres, Fla.; brother, Peter Rozella of Mosinee; three grandsons, Mike (Emily) Maruszewski of Evansville, Brian (Kat) Ball of Las Vegas, Nev., and Adam Siehr of Honolulu, Hawaii; five great-grandchildren, Emilie Schuster, Amber and Evan Maruszewski, Andrew Siehr and Ira Meyer; nieces, Kathy, Karen, Karnell, Dawn, Marsha, Diane, Sandy and Debby; nephews, Bill, Mark, Richard and John; and her very special friends and caregivers, Mim Jacobson and Marian Korth, who she referred to as “her angels”; her cherished caregivers, Kathy, Nancy Denise and Judy, with whom she shared her life stories; and to the respite caregivers in Monona and Lake Mills, who she looked forward to visiting regularly. Anna was preceded in death by her loving parents; husband, Louis; brothers, Ben, Harry, Steve, Walter and John; sister, Lillian; sisters-in-law, Margaret, Audrey, Sylvana and Alice; brother-in-law, Bill; and nephew, Bobby. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Rainbow Hospice. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

Anna lived with us in our home, Country Comforts, for the past 8 years. She was one of the most grateful residents we have ever had. She always said thank you for everything. All of our caregivers, including our dog, Floey, loved spending time with her. She will be missed. Mim & Marian
