Rodney Kenneth Jensen

SPARTA-Rodney Jensen, age 72, of Sparta, passed away on Monday, March 11, 2019. He was born on April 29, 1946, in Detroit, Mich., the son of Kenneth and Helen (Borsh) Jensen. Rodney graduated from East High School in 1964. He married Diane Phillips on Oct. 30, 1965 at St. Bernard’s in Madison. Rodney was a bricklayer for 41 years and was a member of the bricklayer's union. He enjoyed fishing and camping, was an avid Green Bay Packers fan, and played softball and managed a softball team until he was 50 years old. Rodney loved spending time with his grandson and family. He was a great guy who was idolized by his five-year old grandson, Hunter. Rodney is survived by his wife, Diane; daughter, Jessica (Andre Freitag) Anderson; grandson, Hunter Anderson; and brother, Gary (Linda) Jensen. He was preceded in death by his parents. A Funeral Service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 14, 2019. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
