Obituary
MADISON-George W. Evans, age 82, of Madison, passed away on Friday, March 8, 2019. He was born on June 21, 1936, in Madison, the son of George and Gladys (Lyman) Evans. George graduated from Wisconsin School for the Deaf, class of 1957. On Sept 3, 1960, he was united in marriage to Kyah Rae Nygaard. George worked within the printing business for over 40 years, the last 26 years were with Strauss Printing, retiring in 2003.
George enjoyed spending time in the woodlands of Wisconsin hunting with family and friends. He also enjoyed traveling and going on guided hunts; his favorite trip was an African Safari. George was an avid Green Bay Packers fan. He was a longtime, faithful member of Our Savior Deaf Lutheran Church. George volunteered extensively within the deaf community. He was the founder of the Wisconsin Deaf Sports Club and the North East Basketball Club. He was also a member of WSDAA and MAD, and President of the Happy 55 Club. He loved to help and serve others!
George is survived by his children; Laurie Evans, Brad (Jeri Lynn) Evans, Scott (Tuesday) Evans; Kyah Evans, the love of his life and mother of his children; grandchildren, Cory (Hayli) Evans, Shane (Emily) Evans, Todd Evans, Tyler Evans and Tanner Evans; great grandchild, David Evans and another on the way; brother-in-law, Butch Jungbluth; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, George "Bud" and Gladys Evans; brother, Robert Evans; sisters, Elynor Gerber, Carole "Lynne" Jungbluth; nieces, Brenda Jungbluth and Judy Gerber; nephews, Christopher Jungbluth, Jeffery and David Gerber; father and mother-in-law, Arthur and Rozella Nygaard.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 beginning at 10 a.m. at OUR SAVIOR DEAF LUTHERAN CHURCH, 3110 Dairy Dr., Madison. A Memorial Service will start at 11 am at OUR SAVIOR DEAF LUTHERAN CHURCH, 3110 Dairy Dr., Madison, with the Rev. William "Bud" Palmer presiding. A Luncheon will immediately follow the Memorial Service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Brad Evans, for the family to disperse according to George's wishes.
