Obituary

BERWYN, Ill. - Ed Loomis, 69, born Jan. 5, 1954, in Madison, Wis., to Edwin and Evelyn Loomis passed away suddenly, on Nov. 2, 2023, at his home in Berwyn, Ill.

Being blind never set Ed back from doing things he enjoyed throughout life. He had a love for music and could play the saxophone like nobody's business. He was a Big Packers and Badgers fan and never missed listening to a game.

Ed is survived by his brothers, Alan (Carol), Randy and Gene; his sister, Jackie (George) Capadona; a niece, Samantha; and nephews, Michael (Joni) and Brian (Shannon Skowronek) Loomis, Daniel (Katie), and Ryan (Sara) Capadona. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; his parents, Edwin and Evelyn Loomis; and a nephew, Aaron Loomis.

Ed will truly be missed by his family and many friends he had near his home. Until we meet again Ed, Rest in Peace.

A visitation will be at the ROSELAWN MEMORIAL PARK, 401 Femrite Drive, Monona, on Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2023, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Chicago Light House for the Blind. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

Eddie will be missed. He was such a special person and never let anything stop him from something he wanted to do. He was always positive and willing to help if needed. We had a discussion once about going out and I mentioned since I'm driving I won't drink. He said don't worry cuz, I can drive us home! Knowing him, he would have found a way to do it too! I will miss you very much, Eddie. Thanks for being a part of my life. Love Diane (Johnson) 💕❤️

Those Friday nights at Capital Speedway cheering on Johnny Z plus all the time’s playing sports were some of the best days of my life. Rest easy Eddie, see you on the other side.

I went to Lakewood School when Ed and his brother Randy first started attending. Eddie and I became good friends. He was such a talented singer. My thoughts and prayers are with your family and friends. Kathy Sticha

Larry and I met Ed at Calvary Memorial Church back in the 1990’s. We were in a Sunday School class together for a few years and he often came to our house for fellowship and Bible study. I also had the pleasure of helping him make a Braille hymnal so that he could follow along with the hymns and the Sunday services. I will always treasure our friendship. I just found out about Ed’s passing. We dated in the early 80s. I was from Texas and dearly loved that man. Unfortunately, my grandmother kept me away from him. I am shocked to know that he is gone. I know he is with his heavenly father.

One of my favorite memories of living in Madison during high school in the early 1970s was my friendship with Ed. He lived in Monona but went to Memorial because of its modern accessability features. I had the great fortune to run in the JV cross country conference championship in 1970 (maybe it was ‘71). It was held at the Monona Country Club. Much to my delight and surprise, the first person to greet me across the finish line (I won the race) was Ed. What a special moment. Jon Kavanaugh
