Obituary
MOUNT HOREB-Mr. Vernon L. Peterson, age 82, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2019, at his son’s home in Mt. Horeb. He was born on Feb. 28, 1936, in Vermont, the son of Martin and Ruth (Seversen) Peterson. He married the love of his life, Culleen Shaw on May 11, 1963, at the Perry Lutheran Church.
Vernon retired from the Village of Mt. Horeb Public Works, and prior to that he worked on the family farm. He was very proud of his farm and his Norwegian heritage and loved tractors. Vernon fought a courageous battle with degenerative heart disease. He was a long-time member of the West Blue Mounds Lutheran Church.
Vernon is survived by his son, Jeff (Nanette) Peterson of Mt. Horeb; grandson, Cole Peterson; brothers, Laverne Peterson and Kermit Peterson; sister, Donna Wampfler; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Culleen; step-son, Harold Shaw; sisters, Adeline Amble, Berndine Sherwood, Doreen Thompson, Clarance Hessel and Mavis Blum; and brothers, Clayton Peterson and Ralph Peterson.
A Funeral Service will be held at GUNDERSON-CAMACHO MT. HOREB FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 500 North 8th St., Mount Horeb, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2019, with the Rev. Jerry Tews presiding. Burial will be held at West Blue Mounds Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Vernon's name to Agrace HospiceCare.

What a great picture of Vern. I am so deeply sorry for your loss. Vern always made me laugh every time I saw him. I am so glad he did not have to suffer for too long and had a loving family to support him and take WONDERFUL care of him. May God bless you as you remember him fondly.
