Obituary

VERONA-Thomas A. "Tom" Barker, age 72, of Verona, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2019, at Four Winds Manor. He was born on Oct. 11, 1946, in Madison, the son of Harry and Margaret (McKinley) Barker. Tom grew up in Verona and graduated from Verona High School in 1964. He worked as a maintenance and building service man for the Village of Monona for over 25 years. Tom was an avid Packers and Badger fan, and enjoyed going to Verona sporting events with his brothers. He was very involved in the Madison community and was a proud active member of Alcoholic Anonymous for 33 years, serving in outreach work for correctional facilities to make sure no one had to miss a meeting. Tom was a proud father and grandfather, he loved spending time with his family and friends. Tom is survived by his children, Jerad (Rachel) Barker, Tamie (Jimmy) Wiltermood, Angela Ryan, and Ervin Briggs, grandchildren, Cory Briggs, Jordan Barker, Brianna Barker, and Katrina Ryan; brothers, Harry (Nancy) Barker and Dick Barker, sister, Mary (Ron) Gordon; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and former wife and friend, Gloria Broesch-Adams. A memorial service will be held at ROSELAWN MEMORIAL PARK, 401 Femrite Drive, Monona, at 11:15 am on Saturday, March 2, 2019. Visitation will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday. Directly following the service please join the family for a luncheon and continued fellowship at the Monona Community Center, 1011 Nichols Rd, Monona, WI 53716. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be gifted in Tom's name to Wisconsin Alzheimer's Disease Research Center. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
