Matt was a great friend. He always offered to help with any project I had. He worked for me at UWHC for years and was one of the most ambitious and “energized” employee I ever worked with. While we didn’t get together often after I retired, we managed to get together for some deer hunting each year. We did stay in touch constantly sharing hunting/fishing successes, failures and bragging pictures via email and text. He will be greatly missed!!!!!

My dear friend Matthew! Your enthusiasm and passion for life was truly inspirational and will continue to be in memory. Never one to mince words, you put it out there as you saw it, sincere and real. Genuine, the real McCoy! Always there to help a friend, lend a hand, and provide motivation when it was most needed. Selfless. Your spirit for adventure, appreciation of nature, and all the good things in life was boundless.
I think of the Nike slogan “Just Do It” and take peace in knowing that you cut the cloth on that one!
You did good pal, a positive contribution to this world! You fought with courage, dignity, and a smile right up to the finish line.
You will be greatly missed by so many who had the good fortune of being part of your life on this plane. I’ll look forward to seeing you in the next! Miss you dearly Bud! Godspeed to you.

Matt had a big personality and an even bigger heart. He believed in integrity and always put his best effort forth in all that he did. In both work and friendship he went above and beyond. He made the world a better place and me a better person. Thank you Matt, rest in peace.

I just found this and was saddened to learn. Max and I were roommates at Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah, Ga when he returned to the states from his tour in Germany, for about a year before my ETS. He was a really good guy. Here we are on an Air Force C-5, flying out to the Mojave Desert in 1988 to the National Training Center at Fort Irwin and Bicycle Lake airfield. Rest well, Max.
