I think of Leon and I think of Life. There was never a time that when I seen Leon he wasn't smiling, laughing and always joking around. He had this aura that made you feel welcomed and being part of his life gave you a feeling of joy. I do believe when a person met Leon, he was one never to forget. He loved his children he always talked about them and you could see the love in his heart for them, his family and friends . I know in my heart he is now laughing with the Angels...I think that is a wonderful sound.

My brothers and sister and I all grew up with the Lawler family in Black Earth in the 1960s. In fact Audrey was not only the baby sitter to my little sister Karen (b. 1965) but on snow days and other non-school work days Audrey watched over all of us. I'm sure having 10 kids in the house (not including Mike Kidd next door who was often there as well) kept her very busy. My brothers and the Lawler kids had some wonderful times together. At times it seemed like we were one big family living in two houses. Leon was one of the little ones, but when we all played, everyone was included. They were good times and good people. I'm sorry Leon had to leave so soon. Sincere condolences and best wishes from me and my mother and siblings to Audrey Lawler and her family.

Always smiling, and friendly, he also tried to make a wrong right. When folks were not very nice to me. He'd try to make it ok...my Angel in disguise. And, he would tell me "just say "shut the "fuc* up". And, that became our code when we would see each other when out. He'd say "Shut the Fuc* up and I would say it back. I felt he had my bad. Thank you Leon for being there for me for real! Rose Bud.
