Hilda M Palmquist

MIDDLETON - Hilda Palmquist, age 99, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 22, 2024. She was born on Sept. 3, 1924, in Mix, La. She was the eldest of the 11 children of Leo and Hilda (Schexnayder) Mix. After graduation from business college, she spent many years working in insurance and hospital payroll positions. Hilda enjoyed camping and traveling around the U.S., reading, walking, gardening, sewing, needlework, cooking, baking, playing cards and visiting with family and friends.

Hilda is survived by her children, Floyd, Suzan (Connie), Catherine (James) and Stephen (Terese); nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Marilyn (Floyd); and sister-in-law, Gerry. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Hilda; former husband, Harris Palmquist; and siblings, Marie Thersa, Marjorie, Joseph, Frances, Leo Jr., Edward, Ovide, Genevive and Mary Alice.

Private funeral services will be held at St. Bernard Catholic Church with Father Brian Dulli presiding. Burial will follow in St. Bernard Parish Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Middleton Senior Center, Way Forward Resources, or St. Bernard Church in Middleton.
